There was no hint of this Magpies fightbackBy Marc McGowan

Staggering turnaround at the ’G. Collingwood kick five goals in a row to snatch an 11-point half-time lead, after Charlie Curnow kicked the Blues 19 points clear six minutes into the second term.

There was no hint of what was to come at that stage, but the hard-working Pies ran all over Carlton from there, led by the resurgent John Noble and ex-Bulldog Pat Lipinski, who capped a strong quarter with an excellent goal.

George Hewett continues to toil away in the middle for the Blues, but he doesn’t have enough allies.

The Daicos brothers also came alive that term as Collingwood dominated territory and made it count on the scoreboard.

Anyone’s game from here, but it looms as a heavyweight battle in the second half.

HT: Collingwood 8.4 (52) to Carlton 6.5 (41)

Collingwood have ended the first half with five consecutive goals in a stunning onslaught.

The most recent was Oleg Markov pulling in a mark and kicking a goal just before the siren.

Sullivan’s memorable goal fired them up while the Blues will rue not making more of the play when McKay and Curnow were untouchable earlier in the first half.

Patrick Lipinski has booted a running goal to take his side into the lead for the first time since the opening minutes.

They won’t want half-time to come as they are flying now.

Magpies kick truly again

That Sullivan goal has given the Magpies a huge boost.

He won a free kick and that play led to Mason Cox pulling in a mark and kicking the goal.

He held up his finger to “shoosh” the Blues fans. The Magpies are right back on top.

His teammates are elated, so is his family and now the Collingwood chants have started.

He’s 26 and in his first game of AFL footy, but that goal showed his class.

Pendlebury sets up Harrison

Scott Pendlebury’s vision has long been celebrated and he showed it once again running into the forward pocket and powering a high handball into the path of Harrison who ran into an open goal.

McCreery subbed out, Sullivan in

First-gamer Lachie Sullivan will enter the game any minute as he has been subbed on for Beau McCreery who appears to have been ruled out after that head knock.

Huge moment for Sullivan who has starred in the VFL and finally earned a chance with Collingwood this year.
