Top-of-the-table Swans dominate to record fifth straight win

The Sydney Swans made the most of its opportunities in attack as it cruised to a 48-point victory over a misfiring Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

The Sydney Swans made the most of its opportunities in attack as it cruised to a 48-point victory over a misfiring Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

The game was far closer than the final margin would suggest, but efficiency in attack would prove the difference in the end with the Dockers managing just four goals for the game.

The Swans were dead-eyes in front of goal, while Fremantle was incredibly inefficient and squandered several opportunities to go down 13.9 (87) to 4.15 (39) on their home turf.

Chad Warner starred with 23 disposals and two goals, while Nick Blakey was at his scintillating best with 26 posessions, nine intercept marks and some customary dashing runs off halfback 

Isaac Heeney also continued his incredible run of form in 2024 with 28 disposals, 13 contested, and five tackles, while James Jordon impressed in his role on Jordan Clark.

After a relatively even first term, the second quarter belonged to Sydney as it piled on six goals to none. Fremantle had plenty of chances but couldn't convert as the Swans players made the most of every opportunity.

Ollie Florent was huge, collecting an equal team-high 28 disposals along with a game-high 13 marks, while Will Hayward continued his rich vein of form kicking four goals in the win to make it 14 majors across his last five games.

Caleb Serong toiled hard for the home side with a game-high 34 touches and three clearances, while Jeremy Sharp booted two goals for the Dockers.
