Former Australia cricketer Tom Moody believes that Travis Head's current batting form for SRH in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, will be a promising sight for the Australia cricket team and their 2024 T20 World Cup plans. Head has been in scintillating and explosive form with the bat this season, which has seen the 30-year-old score 533 runs in his 11 appearances for SRH. Head played a key role in his side's thumping win over LSG in their last clash on May 8, which saw him score a phenomenal and unbeaten 89 off 30 balls knock, including a 16-ball half-century.

Having missed out on his side's season opener against KKR, Head has been taking IPL by storm since his debut for SRH in their following run-fest against MI, where he scored a 62 (24) knock. Since then, Head and Abhishek Sharma's opening pair has emerged as one of the pivotal elements of SRH's batting order. It is without a surprise that Head's brilliant form got him a no-brainer spot in Australia's T20 World Cup squad, with many fans and former cricketers already hailing him to be a deadly factor in the side's opening batting position. Alongside Head, DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has also been in a similar batting form but was left out of Australia's World Cup squad, which caused quite a shock amongst the cricket fraternity.

IPL 2024, LSG vs SRH: Report

Speaking to Star Sports, Moody explained how Australia will be hoping for the same batting-prowess from Head during the World Cup beginning on June 1, and how a future duo between him and Fraser-McGurk is not that far away.

“I believe the Australian camp would be delighted with Travis Head's current form. With the way both he and Fraser-McGurk have been performing, I imagine half of Australia, if not more, would be excited at the prospect of having them batting together. Travis Head has been such a boost for this franchise," Moody said.

"He missed the first game through selection, and it wasn't until the second game that SRH started to play this brand of cricket, and it was all led by Travis Head and his brash way of playing. He's done it over the last couple of years in all formats, and he's been terrific,” Moody added.
