Weather threat postpones Hastings 4th of July event

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The threat for rain and thunderstorms Tuesday has prompted Hastings city officials to postpone the annual 4th of July concert and fireworks show.  

The forecast shows that severe weather, including large hail, damaging wind gusts, and heavy rainfall will occur by the evening.

The event, which was scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Brickyard Park, will now move to Wednesday, July 5. Festivities will still include a doubles cornhole tournament, food trucks serving food from 5:30 to 10 p.m., Luke Mills concert from 7 to 10 p.m. and fireworks to begin right after.

The pyrotechnician for the fireworks show requested a decision from the city on by Tuesday morning on whether or not to postpone the event.
