Isaías

Si, Señor! Si.

That famous bit of commentary surrounds Isaías’ finest moment in an Adelaide United shirt, and he has had countless.

Indeed, the pin-point free-kick that kick-started United’s Grand Final celebrations in 2016 foreshadowed the career of one of United’s greatest warriors.

A four-time Aurelio Vidmar Club Champion, two-time Australia Cup winner, and A-League Champion – and we could go on and on about his class and composure – Isaías is the ultimate clubman and the heart and soul of Adelaide United.

Paul Reid

Paul Reid was a rock for Adelaide in the centre of midfield, with exceptional passing, control and aggression.

He first signed with Adelaide United from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2008, making a total of 70 appearances for the Club in all competitions, comprising of the Hyundai A-League, United’s AFC Champions League campaigns in 2008 and 2010, plus all three of the Reds’ encounters in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup.

After an injury disrupted 2009/10 Hyundai A-League season, Reid played 30 games and scored two goals in 2010/11 to help the Reds finish third on the table at the end of the minor round. While often in a deep midfield role, Reid’s creativity and goal-scoring threat could not be understated.

Fabian Barbiero

Local boy Barbiero took a different route to the professional level after he was scouted from local Club, MetroStars at the ripe old age of 23.

Barbiero finally made his debut in November 2007 as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Perth Glory in front of his home crowd – a moment he described as ‘extra special’.

He made six appearances in the 2008 AFC Champions League including the final and a memorable display against Bunyodkor when he took former Brazilian superstar, Rivaldo out of the game in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role and scored the second goal of the Reds’ 3-0 demolition of the Uzbekistan side. But Barbiero’s best moment in red had to be a stunning volley from range to beat Brisbane Roar 1-0 in the 2009 Preliminary Final at Coopers Stadium, booking the Club’s second Grand Final appearance.

Ross Aloisi

Adelaide United’s inaugural A-League captain, Ross Aloisi was as tough as they come.

Leading United to its first Premiership in its first season, Aloisi amassed 75 appearances between 2003 and 2007.

Arguably Aloisi’s most iconic moment was his goal from the edge of the box against South Melbourne’s Eugene Galekovic in the 2003/04 NSL Semi-Final, which led to his renowned and well-documented ‘shirt overhead’ celebration.

An absolute competitor, Aloisi would stop at nothing to get his beloved Adelaide United over the line.

Dylan Holmes

Dylan Holmes is a key part of Adelaide United’s midfield machine.

With 77 Liberty A-League games under her belt across three separate stints at United, Holmes is instrumental to the Reds’ passages of play, accompanied by a tireless work ethic and leadership capabilities.

Individually, Holmes was awarded the 2023 Dianne Alagich Medal for an outstanding season, in which she started in 17 out of the 18 matches played.

Holmes also won her first Matildas cap in 2021, featuring in a friendly against the Netherlands.
