That includes Fox Footy being the only avenue around the country to watch all Saturday games live over the first eight rounds. For Victorian audiences, that extends across the entire home and away season.

There will be several key games on Super Saturday across the first 15 rounds, including 25 clashes featuring top-eight sides from last season and 13 games involving Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond, Geelong and Hawthorn.

After confirming Opening Round and Gather Round dates and times this week, the AFL on Thursday released full match details for the first 16 rounds. Times and dates for games from Round 16 onwards will be confirmed midway through the 2025 season.

In another new initiative, nine Sunday night games have already been locked in next year, including a spicy semi-final rematch between Hawthorn and Port Adelaide to cap off Gather Round. West Coast and Fremantle will host five of the nine games in the later timeslot.

There will also be 23 Thursday night games in 2025, with Essendon (four) having the most appearances, followed by reigning premiers Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs with three each. Sydney, at this stage, hasn’t been scheduled to play on a Thursday night, but has been handed three Friday night games.

QLD & NSW to host Opening Round again | 00:58

Essendon has also been handed the most Friday games with four, along with Hawthorn, Collingwood and Carlton. That tally includes both Anzac Day and Good Friday games.

It means the Bombers, despite missing finals last season, have the most Thursday and Friday games combined with eight, including the Dreamtime at the ‘G match against Richmond, which has been moved to a Friday night slot for next year.

The Bombers-Tigers match will be followed by a Marvel Stadium double-header on the Saturday of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, with Carlton playing GWS at 1.20pm followed by North Melbourne hosting Collingwood at 7.35pm.

The Hawks have been rewarded after their huge 2024 rise, playing consecutive Friday night games to open the season against Sydney (Opening Round) and Essendon (Round 1), followed by a Thursday night clash with Carlton (Round 2).

Traditional rivals Carlton and Richmond will again open Round 1 on a Thursday night among several other grudge matches, including the aforementioned Hawks-Bombers Friday night showdown. It’ll be followed by a Saturday twilight Grand Final rematch between Sydney and Brisbane at the SCG, while Collingwood recruit Dan Houston will face his former club Port Adelaide for the first time at the MCG.

Other grudge matches include new Roo Luke Parker facing Sydney for the first time in a Saturday night clash in Round 4, while Fremantle’s Shai Bolton and Gold Coast’s Daniel Rioli will face their former side Richmond across the following two rounds.

The Suns-Tigers Round 6 meeting comes as part of an action-packed Easter long weekend, which will kick off with a Thursday Gabba blockbuster between Brisbane and Collingwood followed by a Good Friday double-header with North Melbourne taking on Carlton then West Coast hosting Essendon. The round will again finish with the traditional Monday game between Geelong and Hawthorn.

Anzac Day, which falls on a Friday in 2025, will again feature two game: The traditional Collingwood-Essendon clash followed by Fremantle hosting Adelaide at Optus Stadium.

Round 8 features some tantalising clashes on Super Saturday LIVE, including an Adelaide-Carlton twilight clash at Adelaide Oval before Collingwood hosts Geelong at the MCG.

North Melbourne, meanwhile, will host its first game at Bunbury in Round 13 against West Coast before playing another home game at Optus Stadium against the Dockers in Round 14. It’s part of a new Kangaroos deal that will see them play two games in the west each season for the next three years.
