There’s nobody quite like Jack Ginnivan.

The enigmatic Hawks forward has cheekily hit back at a journalist after it was reported he had spent the night before his side’s elimination final at a pub.

Ginnivan infamously spent the night before last year’s Grand Final triumph at the Moonee Valley races - he was home by 10pm and “on the waters” - drawing some level of criticism both internally and externally.

SEN’s Sam Edmund, who broke that story, then reported on Thursday night Ginnivan had been spotted out before the Hawks’ elimination final against the Western Bulldogs.

“More unique preparation for a unique player,” he tweeted.

“Jack Ginnivan out at Richmond’s London Tavern until just before 9pm tonight on the eve of Hawthorn’s elimination final - 12 months after his GF eve trip to the races divided opinion.

“He’s sticking to the routine, anyway.”

Ginnivan, who is always happy to share his opinion, then replied to Edmund’s 2023 tweet about going to the races with a photo seemingly inside his apartment with a cup of tea and a candle on a bench.

Edmund actually pointed out the Hawks already knew Ginnivan would be having the (early) night out.

“For the record, Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell was fully aware of Jack’s plans and had zero issue with it. So no drama with the Hawks,” he tweeted.

And, to be fair, it worked last time. So why wouldn’t Ginni do it again?
