“The Gold Coast Titans have referred a social media post made by AJ Brimson to the NRL’s Integrity Unit,” the statement read.
“The club can’t comment further on this matter at this time.”
The Daily Telegraph contacted the Titans star’s management, which claimed the screenshot was of Brimson’s mother’s Sportsbet account.
NRL players are not permitted to gamble on rugby league under the game’s code of conduct.
The most recent player to cop a ban for gambling on rugby league was Tigers outside back Tim Simona in 2017.
There is no suggestion Brimson has breached the rules in this instance.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the NRL has agreements in place with bookmakers to allow them to monitor whether players are gambling on the sport.
