We've all tried to figure out a way to get one of the various subscription services for free, be that a weekend of Sky Sports action or just an additional month of Prime benefits. Thankfully, you can get a free trial on Prime if you're happy to practice some of the dark arts of account management: signing up with a fresh email. All you've got to do is use an account email that hasn't previously been attached to Prime before and then call in your 30-day free trial. Doing so will give you unfettered access to the sale without paying for Prime's next-day delivery. Just remember it will automatically charge you once your 30 days are up.

Tips for finding the best Prime Big Deal Days deals in 2024

Before you go wading into the depths of Amazon's digital vault to hunt for a discount on a new telly, it's worth doing a bit of prep to make sure you're ready to make the most out of the sale. If you haven't already, we'd suggest you go ahead and download the Amazon Prime app on your smartphone. It can be installed on Apple and Android devices with no issues and will automatically notify you when the sale starts and you can set up wish lists right in the app so that you'll get alerts when those items you want the most go on sale.

What early deals can we expect in the Amazon Prime Day sale 2023?

If you've not shopped through an Amazon sales event before, prepare to have your budget-hunting mind blown. Amazon has hyped up this particular sale ahead of Black Friday, claiming this will be one of the biggest shopping events it has ever held, with “some of the best deals from the season” being held in the month of October. Given how big the Prime Day sale was earlier in the summer, we'd be inclined to agree with Jeff Bezos' assessment, as this particular sale will launch Amazon's Black Friday offerings, so if you've been hanging on to buy a fancy new gadget for yourself, now might be the best time to do so.

In years gone by, we've seen at least 50 per cent off some of the most sought-after items that Amazon has to offer, with some offers slashing prices by more than 80 per cent on air fryers, phone cases and headphones. In fact, we saw some genuinely staggering deals in the Prime Day sale back in July, with Amazon's own-brand products such as Kindles, tablets and smart speakers falling by more than 60 per cent across the board. That meant things like an Amazon 4K Fire stick fell below £30, and the Echo Dot Gen 5 smart speaker was cheaper than £35, with extra gear like smart bulbs and plugs thrown in for an even bigger discount.
