Anna Delvey made her DWTS debut on September 17, and if you were curious to see how Delvey’s particular set of skills translated to the dance floor, the reviews indicate that, well, they didn’t.

Delvey’s casting on Dancing With the Stars was contentious from the start. The convicted fraudster became famous for successfully conning New Yorkers out of thousands of dollars in order to fund her socialite lifestyle, for which she served three years in prison. Delvey might have used DWTS to clean up her public image but, so far, she doesn’t seem to be giving it her all, and viewers are annoyed.

Twitter users said that Delvey’s lackluster performance created a palpably uncomfortable atmosphere in the ballroom, commenting on the “awkward silence” and the way she seemed to “suck all the energy and happiness” out of the room.

Instagram commenters agreed. One person wrote, “The silence during the performance was deafening.” TikTok creators who posted the show said, “She really could not be more uninterested.”

And then there were Delvey’s interactions with her pro-dancer partner, Ezra Sosa. After the performance, host Julianne Hough asked the couple how they were feeling. This is usually where people say something like, “My partner was so supportive” or, “I’m proud of my effort.” Delvey responded, “I feel happy that I don’t have to do this dance again.” TikTok commenters joked, “Poor Ezra! Smiling thru the pain,” and, “Ezra is fighting for his life.” Said one Instagram commenter, “Her last sassy remark made me so mad for Ezra. He put his time, work, and energy into that dance to make you look good and you say that?”

Anna Delvey said in her DWTS intro package that she wanted America to “see a different side” of her. “I hope that everybody who feels negatively about me, that I will be able to turn their opinion of me around,” she said.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like she’s achieved that goal quite yet.
