The purpose of “mysterious side panel” of iPhone 12 is finally revealed

First prototypes of next in line iPhone 12 were leaked in the beginning of 2020.

Experts were immediately drawn to the never before seen oval space on the side panel of the phone.

Internet was flooding with all kinds of suggestions about the functionality of this element. Some believed that new Apple phones would be able to charge with the help of the magnet cable. The most popular suggestion was that it was a SIM-slot. The manufacturer didn’t give any comments regarding this matter, even though every next leak of the phone kept that same spot on the side.

Forbes says, any of the experts  will be able to correctly predict its meaning. This small area is a modern 5G antenna for a small operating radius. But, unfortunately, for now this version of iPhone 12, with low range 5G, will be available only on local market, because other countries use another 5G range. That’s why there’s no doubt, there will be two versions of the phone in the market.

Independent experts point out that launching of iPhone 12 with 5G antenna may give a push for European and Asian operators to develop 5G technology.
