Ariana Grande files for divorce from husband Dalton Gomez

Ariana Grande has filed for divorce from husband Dalton Gomez after two years of marriage.

As per TMZ, the pop star's lawyer Laura Wasser handed in the papers yesterday (September 18), with irreconcilable differences being cited as the reason; Gomez, a real estate agent, immediately followed suit in what is reported to be an amicable split.

The date of separation was listed as February 20, 2023, with the pair using the following seven months to iron out details pertaining to a settlement.

The pair began dating in January 2020, before tying the knot in May of the following year.

Grande is currently filming her role in Wicked: Part One, which sees the singer play Galinda Upland in the adaptation of the hit stage musical. She will star alongside Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh, with Jon M Chu helming the project.

The director, best known for Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights, recently teased the musical-fantasy, saying that the prequel to The Wizard of Oz will be an experience suited to the big screen.

“It’s a fully immersive experience - Emerald City is a world that can only be realised on film,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “This movie has everything: giant musical numbers, big action pieces. [But] at the end of the day, it's actually not about those things - it's about change and [how] it's necessary for things to get better.”

While the film already boasts a stacked cast, the roster could have been even more star-studded had Nick Jonas secured a part, with the singer recently revealing that he and his brother Joe missed out on the part of Fiyero, which eventually went to Bailey.

“Joe and I both went out, and we didn't get it. But that's the life of an actor,” he said. “I'm a huge fan of the show and that's a role I always thought it would be fun to play. But I think Jonathan is going to do a great job, and I'm sure the movie is going to be great.”

Wicked: Part One is set to be released on November 27, 2024, with Wicked: Part Two expected to follow on December 25, 2025.
