Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers have taken part in a two-minute silence on Armistice Day.

A penalty shootout was put on hold while the silence was observed at Southend United's training ground.

The shootout is raising money for Children in Need.

Girlguiding Anglia's chief commissioner said group leaders made sure the girls understood the significance of the two-minute pause.

Karen Johnson, from Girlguiding Anglia, said: "To me, it always relates back to our promise, which is about community and service to other people.

"They'll understand the significance because we talk about it all the time.

"There's been lots of different activities going on around the region on it - at my Brownies, we did some stones last week and we painted them."
