Confidence is contagious: Bayern Munich's Dayot Upamecano has ...
Dayot Upamecano was struggling with an injury and needed to be replaced by Eric Dier in the closing stages of Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. This injury forced him to sit out international duty with France and build his fitness on the training ground leading up to Saturday’s clash with VfB Stuttgart. But despite his status for the match being touch and go, he pulled himself together and delivered an exceptional performance to ensure a clean sheet, hinting after the match that perhaps head coach Vincent Kompany has something to do with this uptick in performance:
“I’m very happy with him. He played in my position, he does a lot of video analysis with us defenders, he helps us a lot,” Upamecano explained, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I have confidence this season and will give it my all for him.”
Bayern and Kompany will surely need his all in the upcoming week, let alone the whole season. The Frenchman will get a short rest before needing to prepare for a big clash against FC Barcelona. If he can pull out the same phenomenal performance he did today, Bayern should be absolutely fine.
