Bayern Munich hammered Dinamo Zagreb to set a new UEFA Champions League record of scoring nine goals in a single match.

They became the first team to score nine goals in a Champions League game, with the last team to do it in the European Cup era being Real Madrid in their 9-1 win over FC Wacker Innsbruck in October 1990.

Harry Kane scored four goals in this heavy win and also became the first player in European Cup/Champions League history to score three penalties (excluding shootouts) in a single match. His four goals also helped him overtake Wayne Rooney to become the highest-scoring English player in the history of the competition.

Other Bayern goalscorers on the night were Raphaël Guerreiro, Michael Olise (2) and substitutes Leroy Sané and Leon Goretzka. Another sub, Thomas Müller made his 152nd appearance in the UCL, becoming the player with the most appearances for a single team in the competition.
