Sydney Thunder’s squad for the upcoming BBL|14 season has been finalised, with Blake Nikitaras called in as a replacement for Nic Maddinson, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Maddinson sustained a significant finger injury and will undergo surgery, likely ruling him out for the entire tournament.

Thunder are pleased to welcome Blake Nikitaras back to the squad as Maddinson’s replacement. A talented batter who has previously played two BBL matches for Thunder, Nikitaras adds depth and firepower to the lineup ahead of the season opener.

Thunder's General Manager, Trent Copeland expressed disappointment at Maddinson’s unavailability but highlighted the opportunity for Nikitaras to step up and make an impact.

"Losing Nic is a tough blow. He’s a quality player and an important part of our plans for BBL|14. We wish him all the best for a full recovery.

"At the same time, we’re excited to have Blake join us. He’s a hard-working player who has shown great potential, and we’re confident he will seize this opportunity."

With the addition of Nikitaras, Thunder’s squad for BBL|14 is now complete.

Thunder's season kicks off in Canberra on December 17 against the Adelaide Strikers, before the team returns to ENGIE Stadium for the highly anticipated Sydney Smash on December 21. Grab your tickets HERE.
