The singer’s first country project was a huge commercial win when it arrived, and in the months since then, it’s slowly declined on the Billboard charts. Now, the superstar shoots back up the rankings thanks to a special re-release of the bestseller.
Cowboy Carter gallops back into the top 10 on the Billboard 200 this week. Beyoncé’s latest shoots from No. 50 to No. 10 in one huge leap, finding its way to the highest tier on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. once again.
In the past tracking period, Billboard reports that Cowboy Carter moved 39,000 equivalent units. That sum includes all forms of consumption, though sales are largely responsible for the title’s resurgence.
The deluxe edition of Cowboy Carter was recently released on vinyl for the first time, and members of the BeyHive—Beyoncé’s fan club—bought the title in huge sums. The set sold 24,000 copies throughout the past seven-day tracking week. All but 1,000 of those were on vinyl.
Cowboy Carter is soaring on a number of charts this week thanks to that uptick in purchases. It returns to the No. 1 spot on the Vinyl Albums list as it simultaneously climbs the Billboard 200.
Beyoncé reached No. 1 on a number of rankings in the U.S. with Cowboy Carter, which was an easy and instant smash for her. In addition to the Billboard 200 and the Vinyl Albums chart, the effort also ruled the Top Album Sales and Top Country Albums rosters. It marked the Grammy champion’s debut leader—and first placement—on the latter genre-specific ranking.
