Australia joins France as the only basketball nation that has already secured its place in the 2024 Paris Olympics. 10 Olympic spots are left for grabs.

After New Zealand lost to Greece in the final Group C game of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, the Australian Boomers secured their spot in next year's Paris Olympics.

Australia / Schedule

In the Oceania region, with just two teams -- Australia and New Zealand -- competing for a lone direct Olympic berth, the Boomers have secured their ticket by advancing to the World Cup's Second Round.

On the other hand, New Zealand now finds itself among the 16 teams relegated to the Classification Games, vying for places in the 17th to 32nd range.

There are only 12 spots in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

France has already secured a place as the host nation despite being eliminated early from FIBA World Cup 2023 title contention. Besides France and Australia, 10 spots are left for grabs.

To break it down, Europe and the Americas each have two dedicated spots, while Africa, Asia, and Oceania each receive one ticket. The last four slots will be allocated in the upcoming summer through the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
