'What's one more splurge?' Australians ask themselves as Boxing Day rolls sales roll around in the post-Yuletide haze.
Aussies are planning to launch themselves back into buying with 41 per cent of respondents to a PayPal survey saying they had their eye on a Boxing Day bargain.
And 44 per cent of those shoppers had already splurged on the Black Friday sales, the survey of 1001 people aged between 18 and 75 years found.
PayPal consumer shopping expert Rob Bates said "Boxing Day sales could be a great chance to save money on things we need".
"But shopping should always be planned and budgeted to avoid impulse buying, overspending and starting the new year with unnecessary financial stress," he said.
He reminded shoppers that despite serious discounts it was important to consider if it was a sensible purchase.
Boredom and retail therapy motivated many purchases made during the sales, the research found.
But it was easy to get carried away during the sales with 51 per cent of survey respondents under 40 years saying they'd shop from the comfort of their bed.

Mr Bates said "we all love the convenience of shopping from anywhere on our phones or tablets".
"But scammers are constantly upping their game, especially around seasonal sales, so it's important to pay attention while you're paying online," he said.
Australians were becoming more online safety-savvy with 93 per cent taking at least one measure to strengthen their digital defenses.
