Brisbane Lions midfielder Cam Rayner has slammed the reporting of his side's off-season Las Vegas trip that reportedly caused personal issues between players.

The trip, which Lions GM of footy Danny Daly confirmed took place across October and November last year, reportedly led to players and partners splitting after WhatsApp messages made their way back to Australia.

The situation hit the headlines after Brisbane slumped to a 0-3 season start.

Daly said he had a phone call with co-captains Lachie Neale and Harris Andrews, who told him there were "no issues in the playing group".

"I will again strongly say today there is no divide in our playing group," Daly said at the start of April.

Since that miserable start on field, the Lions have managed to claw their way back, with two wins against North Melbourne and the Demons.

Now, Rayner has had his say on the situation that caused his club to consider boycotting the Herald Sun and 3AW Radio for their reporting on the issues.

"It's been blown out of proportion," Rayner told Brisbane radio show Stav, Abby & Matt.

"As a group … it's brought us closer if anything and you know, I feel like we've responded really well."

The Lions turned their 0-3 start around, now sitting 2-3 ahead of their clash with the Cats.

Rayner, who collected 25 touches in their win over the Demons at the MCG last week, noted how the pressure has alleviated now that the Lions have had a couple of wins.

"Everything goes quiet when you're playing good footy, so we just need to keep doing that," he said.

But he did have one final message for his side's naysayers.

"We get to do whatever we want in our off time, so we shouldn't have to respond to critics or respond to anyone over there," Rayner said.
