Race leader heads into the pit lane

Race leader Brodie Kostecki has headed into the pit lane, and second place Broc Feeney has followed him in.

Richie Stanaway and Cam Waters also take the opportunity to pit, with Will Brown and Nick Percat opting to stay out to try and gain some seconds at the front.

Kostecki is out of the driver’s seat with teammate Todd Hazelwood now in the car. He re-enters the race behind James Courtney.

Just three cars left to make their first pit.

Waters locks up, drops down to 10th

Oh no Cam Waters.

After dropping two places earlier in the race, Waters made a few good moves to get back into the top three, but a massive lock-up on lap 23 sees him drop back into 10th.

He’s angry at himself over the team radio, and it gives Broc Feeney and Will Brown a bit more clear air at the front to chase race leader Brodie Kostecki.

Meanwhile, we have contact between Chaz Mostert and Brad Vaughan. Vaughan loses the front off his car and has to head into the pits to assess the damage.

Kostecki comfortable in front, driver change for Davison

Word from Brodie Kostecki’s team is that they’re happy with the race pace and with how things are panning out so far. In their words: “It’s just a Sunday drive”.

Nice for some, not so nice for Will Davison who is the first driver to pit today. He heads into the pit lane, and we have a driver change while they put some new tyres on – Kail Allen now in the seat.

Quite a lot of wear on those tyres this early in the race from the looks of things, which obviously was losing them too much time to just stick it out until the fuel load was lighter.

David Reynolds also pits and gets a fresh set of hard compound tyres on his car. He’s a long way off the lead now, he needs a safety car to get back into this race.

Reynolds struggling, Mostert missing straight line speed

That’s 10 laps down, 151 to go.

Race leader Brodie Kostecki has well and truly settled into this race, he holds a 1.281 second lead.

Some of our strugglers include Aaron Reynolds who has dropped five places since the start of the race and is currently back in 26th. He’s had a few lock-ups around the circuit, and the team are looking to get him into the pit lane as soon as possible...they could really use a safety car right about now rather than losing precious time on an early pit stop.

Meanwhile, Chaz Mostert has gained a place and is up in ninth, but has been complaining over the radio to his team about not having enough straight-line speed.

Golding the biggest mover after lap one

Lights out at Mount Panorama

We’ve had our formation lap, and it’s lights out in Bathurst.

Brodie Kostecki holds the lead out of the first turn, with Richie Stanaway jumping from fourth to third after the first couple of turns – that’s bad news for Cam Waters, who has already lost two positions.

It’s looking like a five-to-six stop race (four is possible), with the hard compound tyre the favourite of the day. That could all change depending on how many safety cars we have today.
