Bontempelli thinks he is out of itBy Roy Ward

Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli is not too confident about his chances as Neale, Petracca and Daicos move away from the field.

It may be another year where he places highly but doesn’t win the award although Bontempelli still has some strong games late in the season.

“I’m not too confident at this point,” Bontempelli told Channel Seven.

“Just probably hanging in there, I think. A couple of boys that are up in front will be pretty tough to catch.”

St Kilda table up and about, Collingwood feeling stressedBy Marnie Vinall

There’s no greater fan club here tonight than for Brad Crouch.

There is a different air between the tables depending on the state of their respective contenders and their respective seasons.

While St Kilda and the Swans seem well and truly in their off season, getting a bit rowdy and overly celebrating every vote, there was a lot of nervous energy around Collingwood.

Geelong and Carlton tables are both very relaxed with Charlie Curnow and Jeremy Cameron both having a fun time while Zak Butters’ mum looks a vision of pride every time her son gets a vote.

Essendon seemed just happy to be here.

Round 15: Moving round

That was a significant round in the context of the whole count. Lachie Neale looks hard to beat from here. Nick Daicos will poll strongly over coming rounds so getting close to 30 votes is still on the cards.

Snapshot: State of playBy Scott Spits

After round 11, the count is at a compelling point. Don’t forget it’s now a 24-round season, so it’s not even at the halfway point. Lachie Neale is supremely well-placed. The Lions won plenty of games and he’s expected to be strong from this point, especially until round 19.

Daicos, too, will bring home plenty of votes, but he must be in a strong enough position at the same point - round 19.

My tip from here? I’ll go for Neale is a (somewhat) surprising win.
