SEOUL – Rose of K-pop girl group Blackpink has collaborated with American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars on a single for her upcoming debut solo album, Rosie.
According to the New Zealand-born singer’s The Black Label, Rose released the single, Apt (Rose & Bruno Mars), on Oct 18 ahead of the release of Rosie, scheduled for Dec 6.
Rose, whose full name is Roseanne Park, played a part in the composition and lyrics of the single.
The 27-year-old’s upcoming solo LP will feature 12 songs that deliver an honest and intimate narrative of her experiences.
Both Rose and Mars, 39, had hinted at their duet in their respective social media posts before the single’s release.
Sharing an instant photo of them together, Rose wrote late on Oct 16: “The night I taught Bruno how to play a Korean drinking game.”
Mars shared another photo of them together, writing: “So this was me hanging on for dear life after Rose introduced me to this Korean drinking game and got me saucy.”
Mars’ post sparked a response from English singer Ed Sheeran, who wrote: “Is everything all right, mate?”
In 2021, Rose made waves as a solo artiste with her single, R, which included the main track On The Ground. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Earlier in 2024, she signed a solo management contract with The Black Label, which is led by Blackpink’s main producer, Teddy Park.
