Who are the announcers and referees for Buccaneers vs. Eagles ...
It’s safe to say that Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are looking forward to washing the taste of last week out of their mouths. After starting the season 2-0, including a huge win in Detroit, the Bucs laid a total dud against the Denver Broncos and need to bounce back.
Good thing the Philadelphia Eagles are in town.
Despite the lore behind the rivalry that dates back to their clashes in the playoffs, the Bucs have owned Philly as of late. Tampa Bay is 4-1 against the Eagles, including two wins over them in the Wild Card.
The Bucs ended Philly’s season last year, retired Jason Kelce, and sent the Eagles into a bit of offseason turmoil. So far things have gone well for Philadelphia which is a trend it’s hoping to continue this week — in addition to snapping that nasty streak.
Philly helped the Bucs out last weekend by beating the Saints in New Orleans but the way they went about it should raise some alarm. The Eagles’ defense looks good, and is hungry to get some revenge, which means Sunday’s game is going to be one Tampa Bay can’t be caught napping in.
It's a big week for the Bucs, as Tom Brady is making his return to Tampa Bay as part of the NFL on FOX crew calling the game. This also means the Buccaneers are once again under the banner of America's Game of the Week, which is something that hasn't happened in a meanigful way since the game against Detroit last season.
That game didn't go so well for the Bucs, and it kickstarted a 1-6 slump that almost ended up ruining the season.
Hopefully things don't turn out the same way this time, especially with Brady back in town to announce the game. History seems to be on Tampa Bay’s side, but we’ve already lived through one trap game and it would be unfortunate to watch the Bucs gall into the same thing again.
Head Referee (Crew Chief)Carl Cheffers will be the head official for this Sunday's game, which will mark the 23rd time since 2000 that he's worked a Buccaneers game. Cheffers was a side judge until 2008 when he became a head official and has held that job ever since.
The bad news is that Tampa Bay is 9-22 in games that Cheffers is involved in officiating, but the good news is that he was on the call for Super Bowl 55 when the Bucs beat Kansas City. He's one of those officials that fans typically know, not only because he's been doing it for so long but because he's developed tendencies over the years.
Notably, he also called the Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl, which featured a controversial pass interference call that helped Kansas City win.
