Harry Kane explained the difference between the Premier League and the Bundesliga after scoring on his league debut for Bayern Munich.

The England international joined the German champions from Tottenham for around £100 million and bagged an assist and goal in a 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Friday night.

Discussing the experience of the match, he said: “It was fantastic. There was a lot of talk, a lot of build-up to this game, I just couldn’t wait to get out there and get started of course. It started well with a goal early on.

“It was a tough game, we created some good chances. We lacked the end product. They came out in the second half and caused us a couple of problems for five, ten minutes. Overall we stayed calm and managed to get the second goal and the boys finished it off from the bench. Overall just the perfect start and looking forward to the next one.

“I think you’ve seen with my game for the last four or five years I like to drop deep and link play and I think with the pace we have around me in this team, it works perfectly.

I’m a No. 9 first and foremost so I’ve got to get into the box and make the runs forward.”

Kane was subbed off late in the match, but he explained there was little to worry about, as it was a case of cramp.

He continued: “Obviously the pre-season was a bit up and down and this was my first proper game, and I think just the whole environment change, a lot going on with family, just a bit of cramp towards the end.”

Asked about the different experience at his new club, he revealed the the atmosphere created by the fans was the main difference.

“It was great, the fans from both sides were incredible the whole game, really different to some of the Premier League atmospheres I’ve experienced,” he said.

“Of course our away fans were amazing but credit to their fans, they were great, so really enjoyed my experience and happy we came away with the win.”
