Five CFS trucks carrying 21 firefighters, with support from 20 farm firefighting units, responded to a grass fire at 12:55 pm at Minnipa on the state’s West Coast.

Upon arrival firefighters found that the grass fire had spread to an implement shed on the farming property, which was ultimately destroyed.

The fire spread across 95 hectares and also impacted a shearing shed.

However, the combined efforts of the CFS volunteers and farm firefighting units saw the farmhouse and various other assets, valued at $500,000, saved.

The estimated cost of the property lost was $200,000.

The fire’s cause is unknown but will be investigated.
