Chilwell picks up knock as Chelsea progress

Ben Chilwell was forced to leave the pitch in the latter stages of Chelsea's Carabao Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion. The 26-year-old, who was the captain for the Blues on the night at Stamford Bridge, left the pitch with the side having to play the final minutes of the game with 10 men after using all their substitutes.

The game, which was eventually won by Nicolas Jackson in the second-half, was in its final stages when Chilwell went down. The England international and the Blues' vice-captain was then forced to leave the pitch with what looks to be a muscular problem.

But, fortunately, Chelsea were able to hold on to what is their first win of the month and they'll now lock horns with Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round.

Seaman backs Mudryk to come good

Former Arsenal goalkeeper and Premier League legend David Seaman has predicted that Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk will be a success in the long-run. Mudryk is yet to score for the Blues since arriving for £62million in January from Shakhtar Donetsk on a big-money transfer. Having been a big target for Arsenal over the winter he has now been the centre of much attention after a disappointing start to life at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk, one of the first players to be signed on to long-term contracts under the new owners, is yet to hit the heights expected of him and has been put forward as the unfortunate example of what has gone wrong at the club. Off the field and his teammates for both club and country believe his quality is undoubted.

Seaman, talking on his podcast, said: "I'm still sure there is going to be a lot more from Mykhailo Mudryk because he looks a proper player. The touches, the turn of pace that he has got, I think that's another one which is waiting to happen."

Sponsor deal agreed

Chelsea have finally agreed a deal to have new tech-based company, Infinite Athlete, as their front-of-shirt sponsor. The previous agreement with primary partners Three ended in June but nothing had been found to replace the mobile giants.

The Blues had come close to finding other big names but didn't get them across the line for various reasons but have now taken a key step towards having a new sponsor. It is reported that Infinite Athlete have now been approved as a sponsor by the Premier League.

The greenlight means that Chelsea shirts could have new company branding on from as soon as their clash with Fulham on Monday, October 2. Chelsea are the only team in the league without a sponsor currently but this deal is expected to bring the club £40million. It is not yet clear whether it will be for beyond this season.
