Newcastle United beat Chelsea 2-0 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the competition.

The hosts took the lead at St. James' Park on 23 minutes through Alexander Isak and saw their lead doubled soon after when Chelsea's Axel Disasi turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

Chelsea spent large chunks of the second half in Newcastle's end looking for a way back into the game, but despite all the pressure they failed to find the back of the net, ending the Carabao Cup run for Enzo Maresca's side.

Newcastle fans gave their team a rousing ovation at the final whistle as the club looks to win a first major trophy since 1955.
