CHAIRMAN'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
Hi everyone,
It is an honour for me to address you as Glenavon chairman.
The period since my appointment has confirmed something I already knew. Glenavon Football Club means a lot to lots of people. I am always conscious of that. It is one of the main factors which makes me determined to make us successful.
Since his arrival, Paddy McLaughlin has overseen an improvement in performances and results. He has tried to play a vibrant, attacking style and has not been afraid to blood young players. He is also working hard to strengthen the squad. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters’ clubs and others, the Board will be able to provide him with funds.
You, the supporters, have provided tremendous backing by attending games in numbers and getting behind the players vocally. Please continue to do that. I sense that the mood is more positive than it has been for some time.
Nevertheless, we are still in a battle to retain our Premiership status. If we are to stay in the top division, everyone will need to continue to pull together. Can I encourage you, if you are able, to subscribe to the various fundraising schemes which we have put in place to assist with player recruitment and retention?
As you may know, my predecessor, Adrian Teer, is ill. His contribution to our club is unsurpassed. He is a tremendous help to me. Please remember him in your prayers.
Thanks are due to my colleagues on the Board and my wife Karen for their support.
Finally, can I wish you and your family a happy and peaceful Christmas?
Yours in sport,
Glenn Emerson
