Coldplay are bringing their massive world tour down under but only one Australian city has secured a show.

Perth's Optus Stadium has been chosen for an exclusive Australian concert this November as part of the Music of the Spheres tour.

It's set to be Coldplay's first visit to the western state since 2009.

They'll be supported by Aussie singers Amy Shark and Thelma Plum for the November 18 concert.

Frontman Chris Martin said the band were excited for the one-off show in Perth.

"We haven't been to Australia for too long and we are so excited to come back. Can't wait to see your smiling faces."

The exclusive show comes after a deal with the Western Australian Government and Tourism Minister Roger Cook said it was a "massive coup" for the state.

"The Music of The Spheres World Tour has been one of the most highly sought after events for cities around the world," he said.

"Apart from being a phenomenal live show and experience, Coldplay is going to attract thousands of international and interstate visitors to WA and inject millions of dollars into the State's economy."

Perth missed out on Coldplay's previous visit to Australia in 2016 when they played shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am AWST on May 16 or register for a presale at livenation.com.au
