EB Games Has Contacted Concord Buyers To Return Their Copy ...
PlayStation announced that Concord would go offline on September 6th with those that purchased the game digitally getting automatically refunded, which had us wondering what physical retailers would do in this highly unusual situation.
It’s now been confirmed that EB Games is contacting anybody (with an EB World account linked) that purchased a copy of Concord to return their copy to the nearest store for a refund. The game has also been removed from sale both online and in-store.
“Hi, Sony announced that Concord will go offline starting 6 September 2024. Please visit your nearest store for a refund”.
Whilst this is the expected outcome, I am surprised how quickly retailers have jumped on board. To my knowledge, there’s never been a situation like this where a game has had to be recalled just two weeks within launch. Under Australian consumer law, you should be good with returning the game to any local retailer once it goes offline.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the coming months and if we do see Concord back at a later date, although it’s fairly clear that it probably won’t be in a pay to play format.
