Manly lead the Norh Queensland Cowboys 12-6 at half-time of their Round 18 clash at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

All eyes were on Tom Trbojevic in his last-ditch audition to replace the injured Latrell Mitchell in Michael Maguire’s Blues side for the Origin series decider at Suncorp Stadium.

However, in the game’s opening half Trbojevic has been quiet, running for just 35metres and making 10 tackles, with one miss.

With Trbojevic’s involvements limited, Jason Saab and Daly Cherry-Evans have stole the show for the visitors.

Saab opened the scoring a few minutes into the contest following some crafty work from Daly Cherry-Evans, who slipped a pass between Cowboys defenders for the winger to cross in the corner.

Shortly after, Chad Townsend scored for the hosts after he collected a Kyle Feldt grubber kick.

It was a bit of redemption for Townsend, who bombed a certain try in the ninth minute, spilling Jeremiah Nanai’s pass over the line.

For much of the middle section of the first half the game descended into a grinding arm wrestle, only for a Saab try in the 34th minute to give Manly the lead heading into the break.
