O'Connor selected in Prime Minister's XI squad to face India

It is with great pride that Cricket Tasmania can share that Greater Northern Raiders and Launceston young-gun, Aidan O’Connor, has been named in the prestigious Prime Minister’s XI to take on India in a two-day, day/night fixture at Manuka Oval on 30 November 2024.

After a terrific start to the Cricket Tasmania Premier League season, impressing in Tasmanian Tigers training sessions, and in Second XI matches, O’Connor has been rewarded for his strong performances with his selection in the Prime Minister’s XI squad.

His last Australian opportunity came at the ICC Under 19 World Cup last year, where Australia won the U19s World Cup for the first time since 2010.

O’Connor will be joined by U19 Australian teammates Charlie Anderson, Mahli Beardman, and Sam Konstas, as part of a wider squad filled with a strong blend of young talent and experienced international players.

The match will be played with a pink ball ahead of the Day/Night test at the Adelaide Oval which starts on 6 December 2024.

General Manager of High Performance at Cricket Tasmania, Salliann Beams is delighted to see O’Connor to be selected for higher honours.

“All of Cricket Tasmania is proud of Aidan’s selection in the PM’s XI, and we are really impressed with how well he has progressed over the past 18 months.

“His selection in this team is a just reward for how well he has been playing, and we are excited to see what the future brings for him,” said Beams.

A media opportunity will be designed early next week with O’Connor ahead of the Prime Minister’s XI match.
