BREAKING | Houston a Pie after five-player tradeBy Jake Niall and Michael Gleeson

Dual All-Australian Dan Houston has become a Magpie after the deal that faltered last night was resurrected with a minor change this afternoon.

Collingwood get Houston and pick 58 and give up the following: a future first round pick, Joe Richards to Port and John Noble to Gold Coast.

Port get Jack Lukosius, Richards, Rory Atkins, picks 13, 29, 36 and 50 in this year’s draft while letting Houston go to Collingwood, their future first round pick, pick 39 in this year’s goes to Gold Coast and pick 58 goes to Collingwood.

Gold Coast get Noble, a future first round pick from each of Collingwood and Port Adelaide, and pick 39 (received from Port), while the Suns send Lukosius and Atkins, picks 13, 29 and 50 to Port Adelaide.

The pause by Port Adelaide had been to see if they could improve via a deal with North Melbourne for Houston.

Talks back on over three-way Houston dealBy Jake Niall

Negotiations between Dan Houston’s management and Collingwood to find a way for the dual All-Australian to get to the Magpies are back on.

The discussions have been going on all day and are “heading in the right direction”, according to a source familiar with the progress of the talks between Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Gold Coast.

In a significant hiccup on Monday night, a three-way blockbuster trade that would have made Houston a Collingwood player and Jack Lukosius a Port Adelaide player fell over after the Power rejected the latest form of the deal.

Dogs eyeing of Carlton’s Kennedy

Western Bulldogs showing some interest in Carlton’s Matt Kennedy and are keen on contracted Giant Xavier O’Halloran. Of course the Blues were happy for Kennedy to have a look around as they aim to loosen their cap a little which means if the Bulldogs lock on Kennedy there is a chance to get the deal done. Giants have been, until this point, keen to retain O’Halloran, particularly after losing James Peatling to Adelaide and two free agents – Harry Perryman and Isaac Cumming.
