Full-time: Rabbitohs 32 Eels 16

That’s it, all over.

A fifth straight win for the Rabbitohs. Halfback Cody Walker was slick in the wet condition. Latrell Mitchell was involved all over the park. Jack Wighton and Jacob Gagai each scored two tries.

But a fourth straight loss for the Eels. They gave the Rabbitohs a start and could never peg them back. Mitchell Moses’ sin-binning with four minutes to go effectively ended their hopes. In hopefully brighter news for the competition’s cellar-dwellers, an announcement is expected in the coming days on their next head coach.

Moses sent to sin bin after anger boils over

Drama, drama, drama.

That Mitchell Moses frustration has hit boiling point, and it ends with him being sent to the sin bin.

It was just going to be a penalty against Moses for holding down, but he won’t let go while he argues with the referee, and he’s off to the bin.

It proves costly, with Jack Wighton going over from that set to score his second try of the night.

Cartwright keeps scoreboard ticking over for Eels

Egg on my face - Bryce Cartwright dives over under the posts to score.

Not sure it’s exactly a comeback, but the Eels really needed it to keep the morale up.

Mitch Moses converts easily and the difference is 10.

Gagai gets a double

Things go from bad to worse for Parramatta, with Jacob Gagai going over for his second try of the night.

Latrell Mitchell looks a little wounded in back play, but he gets up and shakes it off. He must be ok because he converts the kick from the right touch line.

It’s quite a mountain for the Eels to climb now if they had any thoughts of a comeback.

Moses showing frustration after decision from Russell

We’re starting to see some frustration coming from Mitchell Moses.

He passes the ball out to Sean Russell on the left edge on the final tackle, but Russell doesn’t pass it on. He gets tackled and South Sydney get the ball. He should have passed out to Jake Tago, and Moses knows it.

Moses throws his arms in the air in frustration. I reckon there’s a few thousand Eels fans in the stands who feel the same way.

Try taken away from Tago after foot goes into touch

Eels fans think they’ve got another try, but the bunker rules that Jake Tago’s foot goes into touch before he gets the ball down.

South Sydney get the ball back on their 10 metres.

An update on Junior Paulo - looking unlikely he’ll return tonight after picking up a foot injury.

Mitchell scores after back-to-back Eels errors

An incorrect restart from Clint Gutherson, and a set restart, and the Eels just can’t contain the South Sydney attack.

This time Latrell Mitchell takes the ball to the line himself, sliding over in the wet to score on the right edge.

The Rabbitohs once again targeting the Sean Russell and Jake Tago edge. Mitchell’s kick doesn’t go the distance, and the difference is 10.

Campbell-Gillard gets Eels back in the game

Brendan Hands runs deep into the Rabbitohs line before passing to Reagan Campbell-Gillard.

Campbell-Gillard bursts over the line and scores the Eels second try of the night. Questionable grounding, but it’s confirmed by the bunker.

The kick from Mitchell Moses is good and the difference is one converted try.
