Report: England ELS 4-0 Germany
The Young Lions enjoy a Friday night victory over Germany in Chesterfield
England marked their third victory in the U20 Euro Elite League, thanks to goals from Romain Esse, Max Dean, Sydie Peck and Will Lankshear.
After an ambitious victory last month against Czechia and a 1-0 win over Romania in September coupled with a draw in Turkiye in their season opener, Paul Nevin’s side showed no signs of slowing down at the SMH Group Stadium.
England dictated the opening fifteen minutes, pressing high when Germany had the ball and creating opportunities for Kaide Gordon to advance down the right-hand side.
After a delightful one-two between Gordon and Esse on the edge of the area, the Norwich City loanee narrowly missed the target with a low-driven strike.
A reverse ball from Sammy Braybrooke then found Esse on the edge of the area and after some individual brilliance, his trickery allowed him to drift into the space before the midfielder's curled effort found the back of the net
The Young Lions doubled their lead five minutes before the break with a well-worked team goal, Ryan Andrews was freed down the right flank and his cut back found Peck, whose shot deflected onto Dean and into the net.
Shortly after the restart, England had a third through an impeccable Peck header. Jacob Wright’s set piece was perfect for his midfield partner, who nodded the ball into the top corner.
With under twenty minutes left to play, the Young Lions continued their dominance.
A curled cross found Peck free at the back post and he turned goalscorer to provider by heading the ball to Lankshear, who tapped into an unguarded net.
After a clinical display 3,311 supporters were travelled home delighted following the performance, Nevin’s side will now turn their attention to an away trip against Poland on Tuesday 19 November.
