England men’s under-19s fell to a narrow loss against the USA in a tightly-contested 3-2 entertainer.

Twice fighting back through goals from Bailey Cadamarteri and Leo Castledine, the Young Lions showed character at the Complexe Mohammed VI.

After going behind early, they were awarded a penalty shortly after for a rash challenge on Travis Patterson.

Cadamartari smashed away the spot-kick to equal proceedings in his first international start.

After the USA restored their lead again in the first half, Will Antwi’s side almost provided another instant reply with an onslaught of pressure. Efforts from Joshua Duffus and Jamie Donley both crashed the woodwork.

The second half sustained the pace of the first as the USA broke on the counter for their third.

This deficit was cut once again by England as substitute Castledine met a looped cross with a header into the top corner.

The USA managed to cling onto their lead despite late pressure from England, who round off their international break.
