Small businesses are the big winners in Qantas’ latest rewards revamp, which now offers savings of up to 10% on international flights to members of the Qantas Business Rewards program jetting off overseas with Qantas, Oneworld airlines and partners such as Emirates.

QBR members can now also earn points for their business on Jetstar’s Flex, Flex Plus and Business Max bundles, while scooping up bonus points on Qantas Hotel bookings – and as before, these all come on top of the points earned by the employees through their own Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

Those are the top-line improvements to the Qantas Business Rewards scheme, which is aimed at the estimated 2.5 million small- to medium-sized Australian businesses employing up to 199 people.

Andrew Glance, CEO of Qantas Loyalty, says one in five Australian SMEs already participate in Qantas Business Rewards.

“We understand how important face-to-face connections are for building strong relationships, which is why these changes are designed to not only help businesses reduce their travel costs but make it easier for them to connect with colleagues, clients and partners.”

QBR members who book accommodation through Qantas Hotels will now earn up to six Qantas Points per dollar spent, compared to four points previously – that’s three points for the business and three points for the traveller.

Levelling up for more points and perks

Progressing through the three QBR membership levels will now be faster, too.

Points earned from your entire trip – including car hire and hotel stays – will count towards levelling up. And the higher your membership level, the bigger the savings and rewards you’ll unlock.

QBR Level 1 members – businesses which earn up to 15,000 Qantas Points from business travel per year – can enjoy up to 6% off the base fare of selected flights, while pocketing 20 Qantas Points for their business for every 100 points their flyers earn, and receiving a 20% discount off Qantas Club membership.

QBR Level 2 members – businesses which earn between 15,000 and 79,999 Qantas Points from business travel per year – see their flight discount bumped up to 9%, while pocketing 30 Qantas Points for their business for every 100 points their flyers earn, and receiving a 30% discount off Qantas Club membership.

At the top tier of QBR Level 3, where a business earns more than 80,000 Qantas Points from business travel per year, discounts reach as high as 10%, with 40 Qantas Points for their business for every 100 points their flyers earn.

They can also take 30% off Qantas Club membership and nominate one traveller per year for a fast track to Qantas Gold frequent flyer status,

And at all tiers, the employees of QBR members earn a bonus 250 Qantas Points into their personal QFF account every time they fly for work.

“Whether it’s extra Qantas Points to reward employees for their hard work, or greater savings to re-invest back into the business, we’re committed to delivering more value for Australian businesses,” loyalty boss Glance says.
