There's only ever been one Australian winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature and that was Patrick White back in 1974.
50 years later another Australian author's name could be added to the prestigious list of winners, but it's not a name that's widely known.
Gerald Murnane, who's been described in the New Yorker as "the reclusive giant of Australian letters" has firmed as a favourite to take out the prize when it's announced in Stockholm tomorrow.
