EREBUS Motorsport has been slapped with a $5000 fine for failing to keep its garage doors open for a Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 function last night.

Per event regulations, teams were required to keep pitlane garage doors open from 4:30-10pm AEST, as Thursday night proceedings culminated in the inaugural Party Under The Palms.

Erebus failed to do so and have been penalised accordingly.

A Motorsport Australia stewards report has revealed that Erebus team principal Brad Tremain had “raised concerns about leaving the garage doors open in Pit Lane while the garages were unattended” on security grounds.

There was a case of alleged stolen parts from the Super2 paddock at the Bathurst season-opener in February.

In accepting a breach, Erebus CEO Barry Ryan reiterated those security concerns and explained that his team had a schedule clash having arranged a dinner to celebrate its Bathurst 1000 victory.

The stewards did not suspend any part of the $5000 due to a “lack of mitigating factors.”
