Fact Check: No, this video DOES NOT show Goldy Brar being ...

Social media is buzzing with reports of gangster Goldy Brar's alleged murder, the main suspect in the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala.

A video now going viral shows a shootout, with many claiming it showed Brar being shot in broad daylight in the US. While sharing the viral video, an X user wrote, “Goldy Brar shootout.”

India Today Fact Check found that the viral video has no connection to the purported murder of Goldy Brar. Instead, it shows a shootout in New Orleans in July 2023. Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding the death of the notorious gangster.

Upon conducting a reverse search of the keyframes from the viral video, we came across a video report by New Orleans’ CBS affiliate, WWL-TV Channel 4, from July 2023. The video caption stated that it shows a shooting on Industry Street that resulted in two women being injured.

Using this lead, we performed keyword searches and found several reports from July 31, 2023. Louisiana-based WDSU News carried the viral video in its report, noting that around 5:15 pm, a black car arrived at Industry Street, where two men got out and opened fire on people sitting on the front porch of a home. Two women were reportedly injured.

Another report featuring the viral video said that a felon in possession of a firearm was arrested at the scene of the crime.

Earlier reports suggested that Goldy Brar, along with other gangsters, was involved in a scuffle at a club in Fresno, California. The altercation escalated and resulted in gunfire, leading to Brar's death. Gangster Arsh Dalla allegedly claimed responsibility for the murder.

Now, conflicting reports regarding Brar's fate have emerged amid speculation, with police refuting the claim that he was killed in a shootout in California on April 4.

The US police clarified that the news about Brar being shot dead in the country was not true. The notorious gangster is the prime suspect in the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala and has also been implicated in attacks on Salman Khan.

Thus, it’s clear that an old video of an unrelated shootout in the US is being shared with false claims linking it to the alleged murder of gangster Goldy Brar.
