WEST Coast will be without star forward Jake Waterman for Saturday's clash against St Kilda after the goalkicker was withdrawn late because of a shoulder injury.

Waterman was under an injury cloud after hurting himself at training late in the week and undergoing scans, with the Eagles opting to name him on Thursday night before withdrawing the 26-year-old an hour before Saturday's clash.

Young key forward Jack Williams was a late inclusion for the Coleman Medal contender, who has booted 30 goals this season, with Zane Trew named as the substitute. Dan Butler has been selected as the Saints' substitute.

Without Waterman, West Coast will rely on a forward line led by premiership goalkicker Jack Darling and forward/ruck Bailey Williams, with Ryan Maric and inclusion Williams also shaping as important targets in attack.

The Eagles (3-8) will hope to leave a 99-point belting on the road against Adelaide behind when they return in search of their stirring form on home soil, hosting St Kilda.

West Coast has won three of its past four matches as hosts, with the only defeat in that time being by one goal to Essendon, even if its dire away record is a growing concern.

St Kilda (3-8) is close to playing out the rest of the season for little more than pride after three consecutive defeats left it well outside the top eight before the halfway mark of the season.

The Saints could drop below the Eagles and to 16th spot with a loss to last year's wooden spooners, as they look a far cry from the side that clinched a finals berth last year.

Andrew Gaff is back for his first game since round one, while former Greater Western Sydney ruckman Matt Flynn will make his club debut for the Eagles. Harry Edwards and Jack Petruccelle also come in to the side, while Josh Rotham and Jayden Hunt will miss through injury and Tyrell Dewar and Jack Williams have been omitted.

Saint Hunter Clark will play his first game for the season, while Tim Membrey and Dan Butler have also forced their way in for the must-win match. Liam Stocker will miss through injury while Cooper Sharman and Lance Collard have both been dropped.

Geelong (7-4) has hit the skids with four losses on the trot that now have it on the brink of falling out of the top eight after a blistering 7-0 start to the season, but should get back to winning ways against Richmond.

Three of those four defeats have been by eight points or less, but two have also come at the Cats' home venue which has been losing its lustre as a fortress over the past year.

Richmond (1-10) will visit the unfamiliar surroundings of GMHBA Stadium for the first time since 2017 as it hunts its first win at the venue in 18 years.

The Tigers are likely to find the going tough amid an ongoing injury crisis that has largely dismantled their season, even against a Cats side with their backs to the wall.

Richmond has opted to manage veteran Dion Prestia, but midfielder Jack Graham returns from a hamstring injury and Kaleb Smith has earned a debut. Rhyan Mansell also returns, while Shai Bolton and Steely Green are out.

Gary Rohan is back for the Cats along with Mark O'Connor, with Mark Blicavs and Jhye Clark will both miss through suspension.
