Hawthorn East: Tuscan-inspired house's owners say 'ciao' following ...
A Tuscan-style Hawthorn East house sold for more than $600,000 above reserve for $5.051m on Saturday.
The sum fetched by 36 Tourello Ave was one of Victoria’s top sales for the week, with PropTrack figures showing the state achieved a 63.1 preliminary per cent clearance rate from 358 early results available.
Gary Peer & Associates Carnegie director Leor Samuel said the four-bedroom residence, inspired by the owner’s love of Italy’s Tuscany region, attracted five bidders.

“Some vendors opt out of selling in winter, when many people head off to Europe,” Mr Samuel said.
“But the lure of a Tuscan-inspired house brought out many buyers.”
Ray White Victoria and Tasmania chief auctioneer Jeremy Tyrrell, from the state’s largest real estate agency, said Melbourne’s winter market remained buoyant although with smaller auction volumes thanks to the school holidays.
Since Monday, the organisation’s 174 scheduled auctions across Victoria saw an average of 2.2 bidders per home.
“Even though Melbourne experienced a chilly icy snap and subzero temperatures this week, the real estate market is still toasty warm,” Mr Tyrell said.
A Californian bungalow at 51 Burnell St, Brunswick West, listed by Ray White Brunswick director Jamil Allouche sold for $1.29m yesterday, a figure $100,000 above reserve.
Mr Allouche said that six buyers had indicated they were keen to bid, but in the end two different groups became “pretty combative” as they competed for the keys in an auction lasting about 10 minutes.
In Melbourne’s east, a two-bedroom house at 24 Ayr St, Blackburn South, changed hands for $1.426m.
Ray White Burwood director and auctioneer Jichen Quan said there were four bidders for the property, located in Box Hill High School zone.
“The house is in a good location which was a big drawcard,” Mr Quan said.
“We had about 40 groups go through the home, they were mainly family home buyers and then a small number of investors.”
A three-bedroom Sydenham house with a $710,000 reserve sold for $800,000.
Barry Plant Taylors Lakes partner Andrew Koulaouzos said the 38A Chittenup Bend residence fetched $801,000 after four bidders took part in the auction.
PropTrack is expecting 724 auctions in Victoria next week.
