One of Netflix’s most-acclaimed original series has returned, a new entry to the top 10 list and one arriving with perfect scores. That would be Heartstopper, which has now debuted its third season and it has a perfect 100% from critics right now.

On the whole, the series has a stunning 98% critic score and 96% audience score across three seasons, making it one of the highest-reviewed series on the service if you pair those two numbers together, a true hit among both critics and audiences. And for it to maintain these numbers across all three seasons is something you do not see out of really any shows, save a select few. As a refresher, here’s what Heartstopper is about:

“The story of two British teens, Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring, at an all-boys grammar school. Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together in class. Their friendship quickly becomes something more for openly gay Charlie, but he initially does not believe he has a chance with Nick, but love works in surprising ways, with Nick more interested in Charlie than either of them realized. Heartstopper is about love, friendship, and loyalty. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie's lives that together make something larger.”

The careers of stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke have bloomed in the wake of the series. Locke is currently co-starring in the MCU’s Agatha All Along, which I just watched last night, and will likely play a larger role in the Marvel universe. Kit Connor did voicework in the stellar The Wild Robot and is currently on Broadway doing Romeo and Juliet with Rachel Zegler. Believe it or not I am seeing that play on Saturday, so between Agatha, that and Heartstopper, I’m really getting a full dose of these two over the course of a few days.

Heartstopper was initially a somewhat unlikely renewal for Netflix as viewership for season 1 was not terribly high, but the low-budget series was massively well-received and both of those were enough to save it. Now it’s entering season 3 with continually rave reviews. It’s not clear how long the show will go at this point, especially as its stars get busier, but it may draw to a natural conclusion point down the road here. For now, it’s time for season 3 and from the sound of it, it should be excellent.
