What is Hubbl?

Hubbl is a lot of things. As for its function, it can be described as an "all-in-one" entertainment platform bringing together your streaming apps and free-to-air TV apps together.

In terms of form, Hubbl is a standalone set-top box that can be used with any compatible TV. However, it's also a brand-new TV called Hubbl Glass that comes in two sizes and five colour ways. The Hubbl Glass comes with 4K, Dolby Vision and HDR 10 support, voice control and six integrated speakers.

Hubbl is also the new name of Streamotion; the company that is officially behind streamers Binge, Kayo and Flash.

How much does Hubbl cost in Australia?

The Hubbl set-top box is available for $99.

There are two options for the Hubbl Glass:

Hubbl Glass 55-inches for $,1595 Hubbl Glass 65-inches for $1,995

You'll need to pay for any subscriptions on top of that to actually access streaming content but you'll be able to save up to $15 on three or more of them per month by bundling them through Hubbl. Eligible apps include Netflix, Binge, Kayo Sports, Flash, and Lifestyle. You need to bundle all five to get the maximum $15 discount, and you'll only get the discount for 36 months from the date of issue.

There's no subscription fee to use Hubbl itself, however.

What can I watch on Hubbl?

At launch, Hubbl supports streaming for Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime Video, Apple TV Plus, Binge, Kayo, Flash and YouTube.

It also has free-to-air channel streaming apps ABC iView, ABC Kids, SBS On Demand, 7Plus, 9Now and 10 Play.

Paramount Plus and Optus Sport will be added to the platform at a later date.

Where can I get Hubbl?

Hubbl will soon be available at Australian retailers JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman. The Hubbl Glass TV itself will be exclusive to Harvey Norman. Hubbl and Hubbl Glass will also both be available through the Hubbl website.

What are the alternatives to Hubbl in Australia?

Hubbl is fairly unique in the Australian pay TV space. In terms of saving on streaming through a bundle there's Optus' SubHub. SubHub lets you bundle three or more eligible services together and save up to 10% off the total.

As far as set top boxes go Hubbl is similar to streaming devices like Apple TV, Google Chromecast and the Amazon Fire TV Cube which can all turn your "dumb TV' smart.

If you already have a smart TV or a set-top box, you don't need a Hubbl set-top box to access all your favourite streaming apps. Here are the prices for various streaming apps available in Australia:
