Hubbl outage leaves users stranded, devices unable to turn on

Despite the advertisements claiming the opposite, not everyone’s Hubblin’ at the moment, thanks to a Hubbl outage preventing people from accessing their streaming devices.

Based on several reports on social media, some users can’t get their Hubbl devices to turn on, or it’s stuck in a loop of powering on and off. It’s unclear exactly when the outage commenced but it appears that the issue has impacted customers most of today.

EFTM‘s Trevor Long confirmed that both the Hubbl Glass TV and the separate streaming box are impacted, as neither device turned on. Long also reported that the overseas equivalent, Sky Glass, has also reported issues, indicating a widespread problem.

Hubbl’s official social media channels, including on Facebook and X, do not currently mention the outage. Impacted customers have taken to commenting on older posts to complain about the issue.

In a statement to GadgetGuy, a Hubbl spokesperson referred customers to the brand’s support website.

“We are aware of an issue currently affecting Hubbl devices which we are investigating as a high priority. Customers are advised to visit the Hubbl Help page to subscribe for updates.”

At the time of writing, a notice at the top of the support page elaborates further, referring to “Hubbl devices not turning on or operating as expected”. It suggests users do not reboot devices while the team works on a fix.

Hubbl outage: how to fix your device

According to the latest update on the Hubbl support website, the issue will automatically fix itself overnight. However, if you want to get your streaming device up and running ahead of the footy finals tonight, you can fix it manually.

Here’s how to do it per the official instructions:

This can take up to 15 minutes and once completed, you’ll need to go through the Guided Setup. You may also need to reset your PIN.

Switch the Hubbl device off at the wall. You don’t need to unplug it. Press and hold the standby button on the bottom of the Hubbl, or the right-hand side of the Hubbl Glass. Keeping your finger on the button, switch the power back on at the wall and wait until you see the LED lights go yellow (on Hubbl) or red (on Hubbl Glass), then remove your finger. Wait for the Hubbl device to reset (this can take up to 15 minutes). Switch the device back on and follow the Guided Setup. You may see “Incorrect PIN” onscreen once you’ve entered your PIN. If you see this, turn the device off and on at the wall. Follow the Guided Setup again.

Billed as the next big thing from Foxtel, Hubbl launched earlier in Australia in March this year, offering a streamlined way to manage multiple streaming subscriptions. At launch, its software had some bugs and not all supported apps were available. Apps like Optus Sport have since been added in post-launch updates.

With the Hubbl outage, users may seek alternatives like Fetch TV, Apple TV, or Amazon’s Fire TV streaming hardware.
