Bangladesh's top order was blown away in a flash courtesy of relentless bowling from the Indian seamers early on. But now, this Shakib-Litton alliance is gradually taking shape and both have found their footing on the crease. They have racked up 36 runs together so far, but Bangladesh have a mighty task ahead of them as they still trail by exactly 300 runs. India on the other hand, have introduced spin now and would aim to get at least these two batters out before the end of the second session to assert their command strongly. Right then, India has firmly got a grip in this match as of now as they have a very healthy lead of 350 runs. Bangladesh struggled with the bat initially and it will be interesting to see how they negotiate against the spin. Although the second session is considered the best time to bat on, and with extremely sunny conditions out there, the Bangladeshi batters will aim to make an impactful comeback. Bangladesh then stepped up to the crease with the bat, hoping to get off to a strong positive start. But those hopes were quickly dashed when Jasprit Bumrah threw a wrench in their plans right from the first over. Bumrah got rid of Shadman Islam off an absolute seed that left him bamboozled. From the word go, Bumrah and Siraj formed a threatening tandem and interrogated with some peach of deliveries. But the trouble didn't end there, Akash Deep was introduced into the attack and he too, made an immediate impact with a couple of wickets right on the cusp of Lunch which left Bangladesh in an absolute distraught.

Bangladesh, having endured an unexpected challenge towards the end of Day 1, returned to the field with renewed vigour. Armed with the new ball, their bowling attack showed marked improvement. Taskin Ahmed, who had struggled to find his rhythm on the opening day, bounced back impressively. He exhibited better control over his line and length, resulting in a brilliant three-wicket haul. The highlight of the bowling performance, however, was Hasan Mahmud. After coming tantalisingly close, he finally secured his fifth wicket, etching his name in the record books as the first Bangladeshi bowler to claim a five-wicket haul on Indian soil.

However, contrary to expectations, India's innings took a dramatic turn. Despite a decent start from the overnight batters, the situation rapidly deteriorated. Within a span of just a few overs, India lost both the well-set Jadeja and Ashwin and the 199-run stand for the seventh wicket was broken, followed by a swift dismissal of the tail-enders. Monimul departs for a golden duck and Bangladesh in 'Deep' trouble early on. What a dream start this has been for Akash Deep as he is thrilled to bits, and why not?
