Peppered with a myriad of cafes both on and around Wisconsin Avenue, the Georgetown neighborhood is a caffeine lover’s dream. Therefore, in celebration of October 1 being International Coffee Day, here are a handful of local coffee shops to consider checking out the next time you are craving a cup of Joe.

Maman: 1353-1355 Wisconsin Ave NW

French, frilly, and floral, Maman’s chic yet cozy ambience makes it the perfect spot to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Standout Menu Item: Honey Lavender Latte

YELLOW: 1524 Wisconsin Ave NW

Yellow cafe boasts a robust menu of delectable Middle Eastern beverages and cuisine inspired by owner and head chef Michael Rafidi’s Palestinian-American heritage.

Standout Menu Item: Baklava Mocha Latte

Compass Coffee: 1351 Wisconsin Ave NW

Since its opening in 2019, Compass Coffee’s red neon ‘GEORGETOWN’ sign has become somewhat of a north star for local java lovers. A beloved study spot for Georgetown students, on a typical weekend in the heart of midterms season, coffee beans aren’t the only things grinding inside the cafe’s spacious interior.

Standout Menu Item: Maple Cold Brew (seasonal this fall)

Blank Street Coffee: 3201 Prospect St NW

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!” Within Blank Street Coffee’s tiny storefront, unique menu items and a crisp design have helped this NYC-based brand thrive here in the District of Columbia.

Standout Menu Item: Banana Bread Matcha (seasonal this fall)

Bitty & Beau’s: 3207 M Street NW

“A human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop,” Bitty & Beau’s is a cafe with delicious drinks and a steadfast dedication to helping Americans with disabilities find meaningful employment.

Standout Menu Item: Swiss Chocolate Latte

Cafe Georgetown: 3141 N St NW

Nestled on N St just off of Wisconsin Avenue, Cafe Georgetown is perhaps best known for their tremendous latte foam art creations—look no further than their Instagram for proof of their impeccable handiwork!

Standout Menu Item: Day Dream Latte—a “butterfly pea flower infused” drink donned with customizable latte art.
