Two men have been charged over Ms Bell's alleged murder and are expected to face court today.  

Detectives have found human remains believed to be missing Melbourne woman Isla Bell, and have charged a man with murder and another man with assisting murder.

Ms Bell, 19, was last seen six-and-a-half weeks ago leaving her Brunswick home about 6pm on October 4. 

On Wednesday morning, police said Missing Persons Squad detectives had located what were believed to be human remains as part of their investigation into her suspicious disappearance.

Police said the remains were found at Dandenong in Melbourne's south-east on Tuesday evening and were yet to be formally identified.

Detectives executed search warrants at properties in Bentleigh East and Mulgrave on Tuesday and arrested three men. 

A 53-year-old man from St Kilda was charged with murder and a 57-year-old man from Hampton was charged with assisting murder.

The men are expected to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

A third man, a 63-year-old from Mulgrave, was released pending further enquiries.

Police had previously said 'no evidence' of foul play

At a press conference about Ms Bell's disappearance held on October 22, police said there was "no evidence to suggest any foul play".

Over the past month, Ms Bell's mother Justine has made multiple public appeals for help to find her daughter as well as direct call-outs via her Facebook page to her daughter to get in contact.

"My girl is missing and dearly missed," she wrote on October 15.

"She leaves an impression, she's hard to forget.

"We're here for you bub. I love you my care bear."

A fundraising page set up by family and friends to help with the cost of advertising to find Isla Bell has reached nearly $11,000.

Police said Ms Bell's family had been notified and would be provided with support services.
