Jay-Z describes as 'idiotic' allegations he raped 13-year-old girl with ...
Superstar rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 allegedly with Sean "Diddy" Combs.
American outlets led by NBC are reporting the civil lawsuit, first filed in October in the Southern District of New York, initially listed Jay-Z as an unidentified "Celebrity A".
The anonymous accuser, who is identified only as Jane Doe, says she was assaulted by Carter and Combs after she was driven to a private residence where an after party for the MTV Video Music Awards was held in New York City.
Carter, who founded the management, music publishing and entertainment company Roc Nation, has posted a lengthy statement to the Roc Nation Instagram account denying the allegations and accusing lawyer Tony Buzbee of blackmail.
He says the alleged blackmail had "the opposite effect".
"It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!" he writes.
Mr Buzbee has filed at least 20 civil lawsuits against Combs, saying he represents more than 150 victims of Combs's alleged abuse.
The amended civil lawsuit alleges that Carter and Combs took turns sexually assaulting the plaintiff.
"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!" Carter writes.
"Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?
"These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."
Carter, 55, is married to superstar entertainer Beyoncé, 43. They share three children — 12-year-old Blue Ivy and seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.
"My only heartbreak is for my family," Carter continues.
"My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.
"I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.
"My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world."
The Washington Post reports that Mr Buzbee emailed the outlet saying the letter sent to Carter on behalf of Jane Doe didn't ask for money, but sought "confidential mediation".
The lawsuit is one of about 30 filed against Combs and the first to name another high-profile defendant.
Combs has denied all allegations and is awaiting a May 5 trial date.
He has been repeatedly denied bail and is being held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Carter says his heart goes out to "true victims".
"I'm a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn," he writes.
"We don't play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain.
"Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable.
"I look forward to showing you just how different I am."
